The Connectivity Standards Alliance, which includes Yandex and Sber, has released the first version of the Matter standard for smart home devices. It uses Wi-Fi and Thread and allows devices of different manufacturers to work together.

International Alliance of Developers Releases Universal Standard for Smart Home Devices

Mobile operators and EdTech representatives observe the growth of online education market from January to August 2022. According to MTS, the number of mobile users of sites and applications for online education increased by quarter during this period, the number of purchases in this category increased fivefold, and the average purchase amount doubled.

 
 MegaFon says, from January to mid-August, mobile Internet traffic in online services for training IT specialists grew by 87% compared to the same period in 2021.

 
 According to Tele2, the mobile audience on the platforms during this period was distributed as follows - Geekbrains ― 27%, Skillbox ― 26%, Netology ― 20%, Stepik ― 13%, Yandex.Practicum ― 12%.

 
 Skillbox reported a 10% increase in the average purchase amount in 2022 compared to 2021. Traffic fluctuations of 10% yoy were observed on desktops in January-August, mobile traffic remained unchanged.

 
 Yandex.Practicum reported an increase in the number of purchases of its courses by 50% since the beginning of the year compared to last year. The average purchase size on the platform from February to August grew by 30% yoy.

 
 The Skolkovo Foundation EdTech cluster representatives say that in January-August the online education market grew by 3-15%, but the growth rate slowed down - earlier it was about 25-40%.

 
 In the first quarter of the year, the revenue of the top 100 EdTech companies in Russia amounted to 21.7 billion rubles (354.8 million dollars), according to EDtechs.ru. At the end of last year, the overall revenue of the top 100 EdTech companies amounted to 73 billion rubles (1.2 billion dollars), according to Smart Ranking.

Companies Observe Growth of Online Education Market in Mobile Segment

SberEntertainment, a subsidiary of Sberbank, plans to launch two new social networks: <a href="https://www.getchips.app/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Chipz</a>, which is an analogue of TikTok for vertical videos, and <a href="https://punch.ru/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Punch</a> as a service for creating and promoting music.

 
 Chipz will combine “a catalog of content, video editor and social network”. The service will have different templates (chips), which can be used together with the built-in library of music, movies and shows. It will also be possible to advertise and sell goods via the app. The developers plan to add the option of creating own user chips and mini-games. The company plans to release Chipz in September.

 
 The second social network, Punch, will become a “mobile studio” for creating and promoting music. It will include a neural network that generates lyrics on the basis of a few words. The soft launch of the app took place on March 14.

Sber Prepares to Launch Two New Social Networks ― Chipz and Punch

Sber announced the completion of the first transaction for issue of digital financial assets for SberFactoring on its own blockchain platform. The issuer’s obligations are secured by receivables transferred to factoring services. The digital financial assets are issued using the smart contract - an algorithm that controls compliance with the conditions laid down in the decision on issuance of DFAs including the amount, term and yield of the issue. The platform is currently operating in pilot mode.

Sber Completes First DFA Transaction on Blockchain Platform

VK and Sber may divide the assets of their joint venture O2O Holding for onward sale. VK may get Delivery Club, and Sber may get Samokat and Citydrive.

 
 According to the source of Forbes, the assets of the joint venture do not fit into the development strategy of VK, which focuses on social networks, video and instant messengers. According to another source, when the assets are divided, Sberbank will get Samokat, which is “deeply integrated with SberMarket”.

 
 According to one of the interviewed experts, it is possible that Sber will try selling Samokat and Citydrive to Yandex, because “this will be a logical place for these businesses”.

In March 2020 Sberbank has released a report called Robots vs. Viruses, where Sberbank Robotics Laboratory aggregated and summed up the international efforts of robotics engineers from China, the U.S., Italy, and other nations on how to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The study describes the technology that is already being used or could potentially be applied to combat the virus and prevent it from spreading.

According to the report, COVID-19 has already led to an increase in practical interest in robots, unmanned aerial vehicles and artificial intelligence in controlling them. These solutions can help cope with the massive shortage of personnel in health care, production and supply chains, facilitate social distancing, diagnostics and treatment, streamline labor and improve the safety of doctors and personnel involved in the disinfection of disease hotspots.

Examples of such solutions are disinfection robots using ultraviolet radiation or those that spray disinfectants; autonomous robots for the delivery of food, medicine and necessities to isolated patients; manipulators for ultrasound, smear and acoustic examination with a stethoscope; 3D printing devices allowing you to print things like medical respirators right in the hospital and not wait for their delivery, and so on.
