ABBYY Smart Classifier is a tool for document classification. It is based on ABBYY Compreno technology that understands and analyzes texts in natural language. The semantic technology allows to increase the accuracy of document classification regardless of natural language specificities - words multiple meanings, replacing words with pronouns, sentences with complicated phrases, etc.

ABBYY Smart Classifier SDK processes information in Russian, it also has a morphology module available for all major European and Asian languages.

Russia took 11th place in the world ranking of countries in terms of the number of patents in 2021, having registered 54.6 thousand technologies in the United States, according to the data from the IFI Claims Patent Services rating.

 
 The leaders among Russian companies in terms of the number of patents are Kaspersky Lab (43 patents), ABBYY (11), Rusal (8), Skoltech (4), and Rosatom (4), according to <a href="https://www.ificlaims.com/rankings-top-50-2021.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Top 50 US Patent Assignees</a> and <a href="https://www.ificlaims.com/rankings-global-assets-2021.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Global 250: The World's Largest Patent Holders</a>. 

 
 Kaspersky Lab's patents are primarily related to network security and protection against malicious traffic. The activity in the USA of the parent company of the Yandex N.V. Group (registered in the Netherlands) and related entities were analyzed separately. In 2021, they registered more than 120 patents and applications in the United States, and more than 115 in 2020. They are mainly related to machine learning technologies, lidars, speech recognition, and computer systems based on biological models, RBC <a href="https://www.rbc.ru/technology_and_media/11/01/2022/61dd8f309a7947bc671e2bb7" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">writes</a>.

 
 Some of the fastest-growing technologies in the world over the past four years have included machine learning, quantum computers, and wireless protocols and systems for monitoring or detecting products in conveyors.

Russia Named World's 11th Country by the Number of Technology Patents in 2021

MTS became the winner of the First IP Russia Awards 2021 in the “Best IT Security Strategy” category. The second and third places in the same nomination went to ABBYY and AV Soft, respectively.

 
 The software developer <a href="https://en.avsw.ru/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">AV Soft</a> was also awarded by the jury in the nomination "Best innovative project", where the company took second place. In the nomination "Automation of work with intellectual property objects" the third place went to Headhunter.

 
 The award has been presented since 2019. It was established to identify professionals and companies that have achieved success in the field of intellectual property.

Most large companies in Russia do not use 100% of opportunities of technology and innovation. This is stated in a joint study by ABBYY and PwC “Digital IQ 2020”, conducted among representatives of large businesses.

 
 Russian companies rated their level of digital maturity at 2.8 points out of 5. According to the survey participants, Process Mining platforms will become the most promising technology for increasing digital intelligence in the next two years: the demand for these systems may increase by 140%. The interest in solutions is due to the fact that they allow you to determine the potential efficiency of IT projects and predict the return on investment from technology.

 
 To develop Digital IQ, respondents use artificial intelligence, robots and the Internet of Things. Most of the survey participants answered that in 2021 they plan to increase investments in solutions for automation and robotisation of processes. Cloud services ranked second in priority. In third place is the modernisation of infrastructure to ensure cybersecurity and the development of direct sales channels. 

 
 The study was conducted at the end of 2020. Over 100 managers and specialists from industrial enterprises, banks, telecommunications companies, transport and logistics took part in the research.

Former AI evangelist at ABBYY Ivan Yamshchikov has joined the <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/card/skillfactory/" target="_blank">SkillFactory</a> Data Science and Programming School team. He became the director of the school's strategy and will be engaged in its development, as well as strengthening the directions of programming and analytics.

 
 According to Yamshchikov, SkillFactory is the leader in the data science training segment, and he intends to help the school become the best in Russia in the field of analytics and programming.

 
 Prior to joining ABBYY, Yamshchikov headed the new product research group at Yandex. Now Ivan also works as an artificial intelligence researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig and combines his research activities with work in technology companies.
