The Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge of the National Research University Higher School of Economics assessed the level of use of technologies for collecting, processing and analyzing big data in the organizations of the Russian industry and IT and the readiness to implement such technologies in the future.

  • 36% of the surveyed heads of industrial enterprises report that technologies for collecting, processing and analyzing big data have been introduced.
  • 28.5% of industrial organizations use big data in business processes. 20% of respondents claim they use big data in management and administration, and 12% of respondents say they use it in production.
  • Less than half of industrial organizations (43.7%) and IT companies (43.6%) used data from the organization’s accounting systems, such as ERP, CRM, SCM, HRIS, for analytical purposes. Processing of the data of the corporate portal was carried out by a quarter (27.8%) of industrial organizations and more than 40% of IT companies.
  • The information from social networks and other information resources is used by 20.8% of industrial organizations and 21.1% of telecom operators. The structure of demand for external data by IT companies is 31.2 and 24.8% respectively.
