The service for short-term rental of e-scooters in Moscow is represented by five companies: Whoosh, Urent, Yandex Go, Lite, EcoWay. To rent a scooter, users need to register in the operator’s app or in the ‘Moscow Transport’ app.
Special ‘slow zones’ were created to improve road safety in the city. These are zones in the busiest areas and parks, where the speed of e-scooters is automatically reduced to 5-15 km/h. In total, there are 189 slow zones in the city, 49 of them are located on the territory of residential areas.
All scooters have a built-in speed limiting device, and the maximum speed is 25 km/h. The scooters are also equipped with a headlight, a sound signal and a reflector, and mechanical brakes.
In the summer of 2022, the ‘Turn the Safety Mode On’ educational program was launched. It helps to learn safety rules for riding e-scooters. The educational program is available on the project website.
