City Wi-Fi Network

description:

The Moscow City Wi-Fi network (Moscow_WiFi_Free) has more than 21,500 access points and allows residents to connect to Wi-Fi for free in central streets, in some parks, cultural and sports institutions and in university dormitories.

The City Wi-Fi network currently includes:

  • more than 3,600 access points in the streets inside the Garden Ring Road and in inside the Third Transport Ring;
  • more than 1,000 access points in 56 city parks;
  • more than 14,900 access points in 177 university dormitories;
  • more than 1,700 access points in 312 cultural and sports institutions;
  • 92 access points at 11 transport hubs and bus stations.

All access points of the City Wi-Fi are combined into a seamless network: users do not have to reconnect to Wi-Fi every time when they move from one access point to another. It is enough to authorize once and then undergo mandatory identification by phone number or using Mos.ID (an account on the mos.ru portal) once every three months.

key indicators:
  • Launch year: 2012
  • More than 21,500 access points of the free Wi-Fi network are available in Moscow
  • In 2021, residents and guests of Moscow connected to the city’s Wi-Fi network more than 130 million times
