Velobike

description:

Velobike is a city service for renting bikes in Moscow. The goal of the project is to create an alternative to cars and public transport and offer city residents and tourists an affordable means of transport for short trips and multimodal movement using various means of public transport.

To start using the service, users have to register in the bike rental system on the network’s website, through the Velobike mobile app or the Moscow Transport app. It is also possible to choose a suitable bike station to start a ride on the map.

Users have to specify the name, surname, e-mail address and mobile phone number. Then they receive an SMS with a login and a PIN code and can access the system.

The rented bike must be returned to any functioning Velobike rental station with free racks of the suitable type (for a mechanical or electric bike).

key indicators:
  • The service was launched in 2013
  • In 2022, there were more than 765 bike rental stations in Moscow, and more than 7,200 bicycles were available for rent, and 895 of them are electric
