TelecomDaily conducted a survey of the Russian users of online cinemas and found out what services they prefer and what they are willing to pay for.

	<li>The most popular cinemas are Ivi - 57%, Kinopoisk - 44% and Okko - 38%. Average monthly expenses (both subscription and payment per content unit) are 285 rubles ($3.69)</li>
	<li>63% of respondents say that they use free services, while 39% of respondents subscribe, and 28% periodically buy certain content (pay to watch a movie or series).</li>
	<li>Over the past six months the percentage of users who pay for services of online cinemas has doubled. Now 2/3 of users order a subscription or pay for services.</li>

With the departure of foreign vendors, 43% of companies in the Moscow city and region are reforming information security. The plans to strengthen the direction was confirmed by 66% of organizations. According to the MTS press service, the company deduced the information together with the analysts from TelecomDaily, having polled more than 600 large- and medium-size businesses in Moscow and the region. The respondent companies operate in the fields of industry, IT and telecom, transport and logistics, the public sector, finance and insurance.

 
 Analysts say, information security will remain the top priority for companies in the near future. First of all, demand will increase for complex information security solutions, such as DDoS attack protection and firewalls, as well as strategic consulting in information security.

 
 Among the other current priorities are import substitution and digitalization of services.

MTS and TelecomDaily: 66% of Moscow Region Companies Plan to Strengthen Information Security

At the end of May, the average mobile Internet speed in the Moscow metropolitan area – the capital territory except the center and the Moscow region within 50 km from the Moscow Ring Road – was 48.3 Mbps. This is 11 Mbps more than a year earlier and 2.2 times higher than the national average, according to the TelecomDaily report, – up from 1.9 times last year.

 
 MTS with 69 Mbps is the leader in average mobile Internet download speed in the Moscow metropolitan area. It is followed by MegaFon with 60 Mbps, Beeline – 33.2 Mbps and Tele2 – 31.2 Mbps. The highest upload speed was also shown by MTS – 31.2 Mbps, followed by Beeline with 30.5 Mbps, MegaFon – 29.1 Mbps and Tele2 – 8.4 Mbps. The speed was measured in late May – early June.

 
 According to analysts and telecom companies, operators carried out a large-scale modernization in the Moscow region in the first half of 2022. Since 2020, MTS has invested about 40 billion rubles (USD 750 million) in the local network modernization, and Beeline has invested 27.5 billion rubles (USD 515 million). MegaFon also confirmed the company network upgrade in the capital area. Tele2 says, it does not decide on improving the quality of communication based on proximity to Moscow.

TelecomDaily: Average Mobile Internet Speed in Moscow Region Increased by 11 Mbps

The revenue of video streaming platform Ivi in ​​2021 amounted to $110.8 million (12 billion rubles). More than half of the funds (62-63%) comes from subscriptions, the rest comes from advertising and payments for a particular film.

 
 Ivi does not disclose the number of paid subscribers, but in 2020 their proportion increased to 4.4 million users per month. In 2020, the revenue of the streaming service amounted to $77.5 million (8.4 billion rubles).

Ivi’s Revenue Increases to $110 Million in 2021

Online marketplace Ozon is considering options for launching its own cinema, having already consulted with such market players as ivi, Megogo and Viasat (managed by the National Media Group).

 
 Ozon is considering an acquisition of both white label technology from other video services and an existing platform. The online marketplace thus wants to solve ecosystem problems and strengthen the loyalty program.

 
 According to Kirill Filippov, the CEO of SPB TV video platform solutions developer, at this point, it is almost impossible to start a new OTT platform from scratch, since the initial stage will take at least $100 million. According to Raiffeisenbank analyst Sergei Libin, if Ozon chooses to buy a working platform, then the choice may fall onto ivi and Megogo.

The average speed of broadband Internet (BBA) in Moscow in the first quarter of 2021 was 30% higher than in other regions, having almost doubled over the year, to 73 Mbps. A year earlier, the gap with the regions was 15%, and the average speed of broadband access in the capital was at the level of 40 Mbps. This is evidenced by research data from TelecomDaily. 

 
 The fastest Internet in Moscow in the first quarter was provided by MGTS (owned by MTS), the metropolitan provider 2Kom (part of the Almatel group), Rostelecom, Inetkom, as well as the Internet provider Akado. Last year, MGTS also ranked first in terms of speed, Rostelecom second, Akado third, followed by Vimpelcom and NetByNet (controlled by MegaFon). As explained in TelecomDaily, then the study was carried out only among large operators.

According to the TelecomDaily report, in the first half of 2020 legal cinemas earned 56% more in annual comparison - 18.64 billion rubles&nbsp;(equivalent to&nbsp;$246 million).

Ivi and Okko cinemas remain the leaders in terms of revenue: together they account for 40% of the market in money terms, and Ivi's share has not changed in six months, while Okko has added 5%. And if six months ago Okko and Youtube shared the second place in the market, now there is a significant gap between them. A decrease in the share was shown not only by Youtube, but also by Netflix, Megogo, Rostelecom.&nbsp;

The maximum revenue growth in the first quarter (year-on-year) was demonstrated by&nbsp;the Start online cinema (362.9% versus 242.2% in 2019). Okko&nbsp;117.4%, ivi and Rostelecom - 57.7%, Premier - 48.1%.

The paid model continues to increase its share and dominate the advertising model: in the revenue structure at the end of 2019, it accounted for 70%, now it is 74%. In the first half of the year, the advertising model for the first time lost 26% to the purchase of video on demand against 27.1%, the share of the subscription model - 46.9%.

Legal cinemas earned 56% more in annual comparison — $246 million.

According to TelecomDaily, the number of broadband Internet subscribers in Russia has grown by 290 thousand in the second quarter of 2020 and reached 33.79 million subscribers. The growth in the number of new contracts in the first quarter in relation to the the end of 2019 is 0.5%, and the growth in the second quarter in relation to the first quarter is 0.9%.

Rostelecom holds 36% of the market, ER-Telecom and MTS hold 11% each, Beeline - 8%, TTK - 6%, other broadband providers together hold 28% of the market.
