According to the TelecomDaily report, in the first half of 2020 legal cinemas earned 56% more in annual comparison - 18.64 billion rubles (equivalent to $246 million).
Ivi and Okko cinemas remain the leaders in terms of revenue: together they account for 40% of the market in money terms, and Ivi's share has not changed in six months, while Okko has added 5%. And if six months ago Okko and Youtube shared the second place in the market, now there is a significant gap between them. A decrease in the share was shown not only by Youtube, but also by Netflix, Megogo, Rostelecom.
The maximum revenue growth in the first quarter (year-on-year) was demonstrated by the Start online cinema (362.9% versus 242.2% in 2019). Okko 117.4%, ivi and Rostelecom - 57.7%, Premier - 48.1%.
The paid model continues to increase its share and dominate the advertising model: in the revenue structure at the end of 2019, it accounted for 70%, now it is 74%. In the first half of the year, the advertising model for the first time lost 26% to the purchase of video on demand against 27.1%, the share of the subscription model - 46.9%.
