Over the past year, the number of searches related to digital business transformation and specific digitalization tools has grown by 43%. These results were obtained during the analysis of Yandex search statistics, ComNews reports.

 
 Moreover, there has been an increase in the number search requests for specific brands of digitalization platform providers and software providers.

 
 Experts note that the increased interest in specific solutions in the field of digitalization has been unevenly distributed. The number of search requests related to CRM systems has grown by 20%, while searches related to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies have doubled. In absolute numbers, the number of RPA requests is approximately 13 thousand per month.

 
 Electronic document management systems (EDMS) are among other technologies, the interest in which has also grown significantly.

 
 According to experts, there are several reasons why interest in digitalization has evolved so unevenly.

 
 “In many companies digitalization starts with business processes related to customer interactions. Therefore, when the pandemic started, CRM systems had already been implemented in a significant number of companies. But internal processes turned out to be not digitized and the companies faced the challenges associated with rapid restructuring due to the pandemic”, - says Anton Ermakov, head of the Comindware digital initiatives group.

 
 Another reason is that during the pandemic the forecasting period has significantly shortened and the demand for digital solutions has grown, allowing to quickly get tangible results. In particular, therefore, the demand for EDMS and RPA - applied technologies that can be relatively quickly integrated into the overall system - has grown.

 
 There is also increased interest not only in specific solutions, but also in the restructuring of the entire business management model. For example, there is a 2.5-fold increase in the number of searches for “digital transformation”.

The Russian capital has moved up 16 places in the global ranking of smart cities, compiled by the Swiss business school IMD and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Moscow is ahead of such cities as Brussels, Paris and Tokyo.

Moscow has moved up 16 places in the Smart City Index

In ten years, 80% of calls will be processed automatically: instead of operators in call centers, robots will process requests of Russian citizens.

 
 This forecast was given by Alexey Aylarov, Head and co-founder of Voximplant, cloud platform for developing real-time communication apps with full control over voice and video. 

 
 He attributes this to the powerful development of artificial intelligence technologies, speech recognition and synthesis. According to him, in 2019, about 12-15% of all calls made between businesses and customers in Russia were processed automatically.

 
 This year, the automation of contact centers is growing and continues to be introduced by both business and the state. The expert noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region made about a million automatic calls to citizens to notify about the opening of an electronic sick-leave and clarify the state of health of those in quarantine.

According to the research, the global market for mobile apps and embedded paid services totaled $120 billion in 2019. ranked 20th in the “Top 100 emerging startup ecosystems”, placing the Russian
capital ahead of Taipei, Milan, Chengdu, Hamburg and Vienna. The overall
efficiency of startup ecosystems, the level of funding, its availability and
talent development were used in the assessment.

Genome consulting company published “Top 100 emerging startup ecosystems”
ranking as a part of the global report on startup ecosystems (The Global
Startup Ecosystem Report 2020).

 
 In the
overall ranking, Moscow attained the highest scores for two out of the four
indicators - availability of funding and the level of talent development and
experience. The assessment of the availability of investment was carried out
based on the amount of funding at early stages, its dynamics, the increase in
the number of investors and also their experience. “Talent and experience”
indicator included the number of technology specialists, the number of
programmers registered on Github (the largest web service for hosting
IT-projects and their joint development), as well as the average salary in the
industry and the number of exits (sales of their shares by shareholders -
founders and investors) over the past 10 years.

 
 The ranking
includes 270 ecosystems from over 100 countries and was prepared by Startup
Genome consulting company. Over 65 cities in 30 countries use Startup Genome

According to IDC estimates, from January to March, external storage systems were delivered to the Russian market for a total of $99.64 million, which is 37.9% more than in the first quarter of 2019. Research: the Russian data storage market grew by 38% in the first quarter

Digital Leader, PwC Russia, IDC, and CROC have conducted a joint research to find out which technologies will have the greatest influence on the Russian business sector and job market by 2030. The research indicates that Artificial Intelligence &amp; Machine Learning (AI&amp;ML) will cause the most dramatic changes within Russian companies, followed closely by Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA). In 10 years, more than half of employees in Russia will be working remotely. Moreover, 89% of respondents claim that up to 50% of jobs will be replaced by robots and AI, primarily call center agents, salespersons, cashiers, consultants, accountants, drivers, machine operators, and secretaries. However, Russia will need IT specialists, engineers, doctors, bioengineers, geneticists, data analysts, cybersecurity specialists, as well as psychologists and teachers. Most respondents graded Russian business digitalization as ‘satisfactory’.

 
 Respondents graded current Russian business digitalization and innovation development at 3.2 out of 5 stars, claiming that the finance, retail and FMCG, telecom, and mass media and entertainment sectors are most successful in this area.

 
 Research participants were asked to assess various innovation adoption obstacles on the scale of 0 to 5. Inflexible and slow business processes turned out to be the main obstacle to digital transformation both today and over the coming 10 years, being awarded 3.77 and 2.83 stars, respectively.

 
 Lack of digitalization budgets is also hindering this process (3.62 points) and will continue to do so over the coming years (2.76 points). By 2030, regulations will become yet another obstacle to innovation (2.72 points).

 
 Most respondents believe that, over the next 10 years, AI&amp;ML will influence business the most (4.42 out of 5 points), saying that Russia will have an AI tax or license and a marketplace for AI models by 2030.

 
 According to experts, IoT will drive major change within Russian companies (3.96 points). For example, within five years, it will become common to use IoT-based systems for contactless reading of information on any person you meet at an offline event.

 
 Research participants awarded RPA 3.91 stars as a Russian business influencer, suggesting that robots will be answering 95% of all contact center calls by 2025.

 
 Over the coming 10 years, new technologies will mainly transform IT, marketing, customer support, and accounting departments within Russian companies.

Research: technologies that will have the greatest influence on the Russian business sector and job market by 2030

This <a target="_blank" href="https://www.comnews.ru/content/207711/2020-06-22/2020-w26/virus-uskoril-cifrovizaciyu-tek">conclusion was made</a> by Jet Infosystems analysts after they analyzed the projects that use artificial intelligence and machine learning for the past six months, which were realized in Russia and CIS countries. The activity declined during the pandemic (from the beginning of March to the end of May) in all sectors except fuel and energy complex and industry.

 
 According to the survey, fuel and energy industry took the first place in terms of the number of project (20% of the total amount). AI technologies are implemented not only by large (Rosneft, Tatneft, Gazprom Neft), but also by medium-sized companies. The projects include predictive analytics for equipment repair and field development, digital design, smart meters, etc.

 
 So far, the number of projects in 2020 corresponds to last year’s figures, but it will be lessened in the second half of the year due to coronavirus pandemic and economic downturn. This is explained by the long-term nature of the projects.

 Moscow took second place, ahead of Paris, Berlin and Barcelona, ​​in the overall standings of cities in the European ranking of the Future City ESG Innovation Index, which assesses the ability of megacities to create and promote technological solutions in the field of ecology, management and social sphere.

 
 Moscow became the leader in the ESG Public Administration category. The authors of the rating attributed the higher education system, the introduction of innovations and a large number of acceleration programs for startups to the strengths of the city. 

 
 In particular, more than 130 thousand technology companies and over 3 thousand active start-ups are concentrated in the capital, of which more than 350 follow the principles of ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance).

 Moscow has become the 16th metropolis, which was included in the number of representatives of the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA), created by the Singapore government to help startups to bring their products to foreign markets.

 
 The Singapore Enterprise Agency (the parent organization of the GIA) will support Singaporean start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises in entering the Russian market, while Russian enterprises will be assisted in entering the Southeast Asian market.

 
 According to the assistant to the head of the agency Edwin Chow, the volume of investment in innovation in Russia today is more than $868 million. At the same time, over 30 companies from Singapore are participating in innovation activities related to Russia.

 ICT.Moscow <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/news/ict-moscow-updates-knowledge-base-on-artificial-intelligence/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">has updated</a> the database of Russian AI practices in English. 120 new cases of using AI by domestic developers have been added to the website on the basis of open source information that has appeared since September 2020.

 
 The development of AI is most noticeable in the MedTech segment, which includes 25 new practices (53 in total), selected in the database. Currently, the most popular branch of technology implementation in Russia is medicine. Among other industries actively implementing AI practices, the following stand out: retail and e-commerce (18 new cases), logistics and transport (8 new cases).

ICT.Moscow has added 120 new cases of using AI by Russian developers to its <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/projects/ai/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">knowledge base</a>. Thus, the total number of Russian technology application cases available in English now exceeds 400. Most AI practices were added in the MedTech segment — 25 new cases, followed by retail and e-commerce (18 new cases), logistics and transport (8 new cases).

 
 In addition, as part of the update, two new information blocks became available:<a href="https://ict.moscow/en/projects/ai/?goTo=analytics" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> industry analytics </a>and a <a href="https://ict.moscow/en/projects/ai/?goTo=solutions" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">showcase of solutions</a> from Moscow-based developers, which contains more than 170 products.

 
 Updating and expanding the English-language knowledge base will allow international experts to get acquainted with Russian AI solutions, and domestic developers to export their products and find new partners for business development.

 
 In April 2021, ICT.Moscow launched the<a href="https://ict.moscow/en/projects/smartcitymoscow/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> Smart City Moscow</a> section for the international community. For the first time in English, it collected information on innovative projects in Moscow with an indication of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as analytics, data for the compilers of global rankings, and news.

 The Ministry of Construction presented the data of the new Urban Economy Digitalization Index ("IQ of cities") for 2020. Moscow took the first place among the million-plus cities (103.25 points). The second and third places were shared by Voronezh (63.38) and Kazan (60.93), respectively.

 
 The index contains 47 indicators and is calculated in ten areas: urban management, smart housing and communal services, innovations for the urban environment, smart urban transport, intelligent systems of public and environmental safety, tourism and services, intelligent systems of social services, economic condition and investment climate, infrastructure of communication networks.

 The Moscow Innovation Cluster (MIC) has become a member of the TCI Network, an international network for the development of innovations and clusters. The joint programs are expected to help promote the projects of Moscow innovators in foreign markets.

 
 Within the TCI Network, there are two working groups: cluster development assessment and innovation. Their purpose is to hold design workshops or specialized meetings on thematic areas.
