Muscovite’s Сard

The Muscovite’s card (or Muscovite card) is a personal electronic key to the city’s infrastructure. It has the functions of the city’s public transport card. It can also be used as a compulsory health insurance certificate in the city’s clinics, as a Moskvyonok identifier in the ‘Pass and Meals’ system, and can also be linked to a reader’s profile and used as a library card in more than 400 libraries of the city.

Cards issued before April 2022 can be linked to a bank account to receive allowances, pensions and social benefits.

Categories of residents who can get the Muscovite’s card:

  • pensioners and residents nearing retirement age;
  • full-time students, graduate students, medical residents and teaching assistants;
  • students of Moscow schools and colleges (vocational education institutions);
  • pregnant women;
  • multi-child families;
  • veterans and military personnel;
  • other persons eligible for benefits.

  • 26 million cards have been issued over the past 20 years
  • Almost 5 million residents of Moscow have the Muscovite’s card
  • 3.7 million card owners can get a free travel pass in Moscow and the Moscow region
  • About 1 million students can buy discounted transport tickets
  • More than 7,500 sales outlets in Moscow and the Moscow region provide discounts for the Muscovite’s card cardholders
